Growing up in the quiet suburbs of Centreville, VA in a traditional Nepalese household, Prakriti had anything but a linear path to music. Being the first in her family to even consider pursuing a career in the arts meant breaking boundaries, rules, and a lot of expectations. She sang at school concerts, a few NBA games, and even performed the national anthem for some political events. Even then, she knew that making her parents proud had to be the one thing in life she knew she did — so school became her primary focus for five years, ensuring the safety and security her parents (and late, beloved Nana) immigrated to the United States for.
Finally, after graduating college (and shortly after graduate school), Prakriti decided it was time to let her passion lead the way and finally give her one true love a real shot.
Pop/R&B singer Prakriti Deuja uses her passionate, powerful, and soulful voice to tell the many feelings of her own. With sassy lyrics and a show-stopping voice, Prakriti represents a new era in the industry: authenticity and an inarguable demand for representation.
Home is where the heart is. And representing home is what matters most.
For Prakriti, that’s Nepal.
